The trip screen

A tour of the map-first trip screen: the draggable hub, day-coloured map, quick actions, tiles, workspaces, and trip settings.

Verified for Limbo 2.5.00 · 2026-08-31

Tap any trip card on Home to open the trip's map-first hub. The map stays underneath two draggable sheets: the hub you see first, and a workspace sheet for Plans, Preflight, Checklist, Voting, Expenses, Balances, Attachments, and enabled Pro trip tools.

The map

Drag the hub down by its handle to reveal the map. Located plans appear as day-coloured pins. A day with more than one place has a route line: an applied Smart Route follows roads, walking paths, or joined public-transport legs, while other days use dotted direct connectors.

Google Maps supplies the basemap on every Limbo map. Limbo adds your trip pins, day colours, and route lines on top, while keeping Google Maps attribution visible.

  • Tap a pin to open that plan's details.
  • Tap a day chip to fit the map around that day's located stops. The dot and number on each chip match the day's pins and show how many plans it contains.
  • Tap the fit all button on the right to bring every located plan back into view.
  • Plans without a usable location still appear in the Plans timeline, but not as map pins.

When an organizer applies Smart Route, the Plans summary, full Plans timeline, numbered pins, and route line all use the same saved stop order. The selected mode may be Driving, Walking, or the complete Driving, Walking, or Public transport result selected by Shortest path. Limbo labels Public transport explicitly and explains that Google transit was evaluated leg by leg using a Google-derived Driving or Walking stop order. A Walking result also carries a warning because the suggested path may not include clear sidewalks or pedestrian paths. See Plans timeline and trip map for the complete Smart Route and Maps handoff flow.

The day strip and fit button appear while the sheets are lowered. If neither the destination nor any plan has map coordinates, Limbo shows the trip photo instead.

Note

With enabled, recently verified Pro offline access, your saved itinerary remains available offline, but the Google basemap is not downloaded with it. If the map cannot connect, Limbo shows that the map is unavailable until you reconnect; use the Plans timeline for the trip details already saved on your phone.

The hub

The first sheet opens near the top of the screen. Its quick actions stay pinned along the top:

  • Crew avatar: opens the crew list. A +N badge shows when more people are on the trip.
  • Chat: opens the trip conversation and shows an unread badge when needed.
  • Checklist hand: opens the trip's shared planning jobs in the Checklist workspace.
  • + Add: opens the plan-type picker. Adding needs edit permission. organizer

Chat, Checklist, and Add are icon-only transparent glass circles.

Below those actions you may see the next flight. Eligible free accounts may then see one compact Sponsored card before the two-column set of live tiles. It disappears when the hub is lowered or another workspace covers it; annual Limbo Pro removes it.

TileWhat it previews
PlansThe next plans, or undated ideas marked Anytime
PreflightYour personal readiness score, status, and tasks still to go
ExpensesYour share, the group's total, and the amount settled
ChecklistOpen and completed planning jobs for the crew

Preflight appears when a readiness score is available for the trip. When it is not available, the remaining live tiles simply reflow.

Tap a tile to open its full workspace. Tap or drag that workspace all the way down to return to the hub.

The workspaces

The workspace sheet has a horizontally scrolling row of pills. Inactive sections stay as compact icons; the selected section smoothly expands to show its name. The full section name remains available to screen readers in either state:

  • Plans: a day-by-day timeline with plan-type filters. Eligible free accounts may see one compact Sponsored card at the top while this workspace is visibly expanded.
  • Preflight: your personal preparation score and tasks, when available.
  • Checklist: the trip's shared planning jobs, with the same add, claim, assign, and complete controls as the Checklist tile.
  • Voting: open proposals and voting settings.
  • Expenses: costed plans and the group total.
  • Balances: who owes whom after confirmed expenses and settlements.
  • Attachments (Pro): filter trip files by All, Photos, or Files, open them, and add a photo or document when you have edit access.
  • Smart Route (Pro): reorganize one itinerary day and preview the measured route before applying it.
  • Open in Maps (Pro): hand the currently saved day order to a supported maps app.

Smart Route, Open in Maps, and Attachments use the same top pill row as Plans, Preflight, and the other workspaces. Attachments sits immediately after Balances. Selecting one expands its icon into a named pill and opens its controls as a child of that workspace, so the shared pill row remains visible. When an enabled Pro tool is locked for a free account, its icon stays visible in grey with a lock and opens the Pro offer when tapped. For an active Pro account, the tool is active. A capability disabled by Limbo's server controls is hidden.

You can drag the workspace between a small peek, a half-height view, and a nearly full-screen view. The title at the top changes with the active workspace; the + button appears in Plans.
