Examples, setup and permissions in the help guide

A few things to know.

Before your next great escape.

Can I connect Muse?

We’ve submitted our existing Limbo connection to Muse for directory review, using the same tools as ChatGPT and Claude. Muse setup is early access and has not yet been verified end to end in Muse. Limbo is not yet listed in the Muse directory. Muse’s developer platform accepts existing MCP connections with OAuth sign-in. We’ll publish verified Muse setup steps here when available; use ChatGPT or Claude for the established setup routes.

What is Limbo MCP?

It connects your chat assistant to your Limbo trips. Read trip details, existing and upcoming plans, crew, and pending votes. Create and edit trips, manage plans and grouped tasks, work through Preflight, track expenses, find booking documents, catch up on crew chat, refresh flights, and vote. Compatible clients also show interactive trip cards.

Do I need Limbo Pro?

Yes. Active Limbo Pro is required for all connector tools, including reading trips and voting. Your ChatGPT or Claude plan is separate, and your provider must allow custom connectors and saving actions. Your crew can still join the saved trip and use Limbo's core planning features for free.

Which ChatGPT and Claude accounts can connect?

Your account needs permission to add a custom MCP connector and allow the actions you want to use. Availability depends on your provider, plan, workspace settings, and client. Interactive cards also require MCP Apps support; the same trip data remains available as text.

Does it save a trip as soon as I connect?

No. Connecting does not create a trip, and previewing does not change saved plans. Ask your assistant to save only after you have reviewed the current itinerary. Your chat provider may also display an action confirmation.

Can my crew vote on the ideas?

Yes. You can ask which proposals need your vote and vote yes, no, or abstain in chat. Each person can vote only for themselves. Vote changes and deadlines follow the trip’s rules, and pending sealed ballots hide other people’s choices.

Can I add plans to a trip I already have?

Yes. Name the trip and describe the plans you want to add. Your assistant previews the addition before saving. If trips share the same name, choose the right one first. You need editing permission for that trip; adding a proposal also records your yes vote under the trip’s rules.

Can I create a trip or change its dates from chat?

Yes. Create a trip with or without an itinerary, or name an existing trip and ask to change its name, destination, description, dates, timezone, or currency. Review the change before saving. Changing trip dates does not move the plans already inside it.

Can I edit a plan without recreating it?

Yes. Select the plan and describe the change, such as moving Hoi An Old Town to 2 pm. Approve the edit to keep the same plan, including its votes, comments, and attachments. You can update its name, notes, dates, venue, budget, and supported category or subtype within your trip’s editing permissions.

Can I manage tasks and groups from chat?

Yes. Add, list, edit, complete, or remove real trip Checklist tasks. Include a group, due date, notes, category, crew assignment, or a link to a plan in that trip. Name the trip and approve the change. Add several tasks at once, reuse Packing or your own saved templates, rename groups, and restore removed tasks. Groups are created from task labels. Your app permissions still apply, and removing a task keeps its linked plan. Refresh your connector’s tools if your assistant suggests note plans instead.

Can I remove plans?

Yes, when you have editing permission. Identify the exact plans and approve their removal. Removal is permanent and also removes their attachments and flight monitoring, just as in the app.

Will places appear on the map?

New trips and plans are checked with Google Places in the background. Verified locations get map pins, and trip covers are added when available. Uncertain matches stay unpinned. You can also ask your assistant to refresh map details for an older trip.

Will I see trip and plan images?

Available trip covers are returned with trip details. Ask to see a plan’s Google place photo to fetch a current picture of its linked venue, with Google Maps and photographer credit. Places without photos are left out. Your chat provider controls whether images appear inline or as links.

I already connected. How do I get the new tools?

Refresh the connector’s tools or reconnect Limbo. Approve voting for ballot actions, and the separate chat and document permissions for those workflows. If your provider still shows only preview and import, remove and re-add the connector to refresh its tool list.

What can I do with interactive trip cards?

Ask ‘Show my Limbo trips’ or ‘Show the Checklist for Lisbon’. In a client with MCP Apps support, browse trip covers and itineraries, claim an open task, check off your work, and choose a vote. Each action follows your trip permissions. If cards are unavailable, ask for the same information or action in text.

Can I import a booking PDF?

Upload the confirmation and name the trip. Your assistant can extract selectable PDF text, prepare the matching plans, and show a preview. Check the dates, timezones, places and prices before saving. The original document is attached to each imported plan. Scanned files need a chat client that can read the image. This does not purchase or change a booking.

Can I track costs and who owes whom?

Yes. Record an expense, its payers and split, ask for the trip’s balances, and record repayments that have already happened. Confirmed expenses with recorded payments contribute to balances. These actions update Limbo’s records; they never charge a card or transfer money.

Can it read or message my crew?

With chat permission, ask for a summary of recent messages or a draft reply. Sending requires your explicit instruction for the exact message and trip, and may notify the crew. Reading chat does not mark the messages as read in Limbo.

Do I need an API key?

No. Add the connector URL, choose OAuth if asked, and sign in with the code sent to your Limbo email. You do not need a client secret. Enter your sign-in code on Limbo's sign-in page, outside the conversation.
