Google Maps across Limbo, with faster inspiration
In 2.4.01, every Limbo map moved to Google Maps, inspiration moved into the Hub, and starting a trip went straight to the manual form.
In Limbo 2.4.01
Every map in Limbo now uses Google Maps. The trip map, plan location previews, and your Travel map all share the same basemap, while keeping Limbo's day-coloured pins, routes, and map controls.
Destination and plan-location search continues to use Google Places. Select a suggestion to match the place and its map position. Google photos, ratings, review counts, prices, and other provider display details are not saved as plan content.
Your saved itinerary still travels with you offline. Plans, times, addresses, and other details already on your phone remain available, but the live Google basemap is not downloaded for offline use. If it cannot connect, Limbo shows a clear unavailable state until you are back online.
If an older saved destination or offline destination change cannot be carried into the new place format safely, Limbo shows No destination and lets you select it again online. The trip name, dates, crew, plans, votes, and other trip content remain in place.
Google Maps branding and data attribution remain visible on maps and place-search results.
Need Inspiration is also easier to reach. Its icon-only sparkle now sits in the pinned quick-action row between Chat and Checklist, so you no longer need to scroll below the Hub tiles to start an inspiration list.
Starting a trip is simpler in this release too: Home's floating + opens the manual New Trip form directly. The standalone itinerary planner was unavailable in this release, so the welcome, login, and Create for me shortcuts were not shown. Need inspiration remained available inside an existing trip at the time; Limbo 2.5.00 retires that flow.
Note
This article records what shipped in Limbo 2.4.01 on iOS and Android. An older app version may still show the previous map and trip-screen workflow.
